Deadline for NIS2 implementation approaches

With four months remaining until the deadline for implementation, EU member states are being urged to finalise their preparations for compliance with the new Network and Information Security Directive.

NIS2 was designed to help improve cyber security in Europe and contains legal measures to compel organisations to strengthen their security precautions. The new directive expands the existing provisions from 2016 and organisations affected will be called upon in the future not only to better protect their networks and IT systems, but also to be able to act in the event of a cyber attack. Penalties for non-compliance can extend into the millions.

HDI Global offers clients innovative services to support them in meeting the stringent new standards.

"The introduction of NIS2 presents companies with great challenges," explains Meike Röllecke, head of cyber and financial lines at HDI Global SE, which has been helping organisations with their compliance journeys. "Many companies, especially small and medium-sized businesses, are faced with the problem of limited resources and lack of expertise in cyber security. Here we provide targeted support with our specially designed services." NIS2 deliberately relies on the company's own responsibility, as they themselves are responsible for checking whether they need to take measures for their cyber security to meet the requirements of NIS2.

HDI Global offers clients exclusive access to a range of services aimed at improving the security level of companies and entire value chains. This covers security-critical areas such as incident management, business continuity, cryptography, authentication and emergency communication.

Dr Mukadder Erdönmez, member of the HDI Global SE executive board, responsible for third-party liability, cyber insurance and motor, added: "Our goal is to support companies in meeting the new NIS2 standards and to keep the challenges of cyber security precautions as low as possible. By offering our clients high-quality services to support the requirements associated with the directive, we strengthen their trust in modern technologies and prove to be the reliable partner in digital transformation."

EU member states have until 17th October 2024 to transpose NIS2 into their national legislation.
