Gallagher bolsters real estate practice with Bircroft deal

Gallagher has expanded its real estate practice with the acquisition of Bircroft Insurance Services.

Bircroft is a commercial insurance broker specialising in the wholesale, retail and private client real estate segments.

Established over 15 years ago as part of the Dawnay Day Group, the business is based in London and has a team of 10, led by Ian Lee and Simon Bird.

The Bircroft team will continue in their current roles, and Bircroft will become part of Gallagher’s real estate practice within its UK and Ireland retail division, led by regional managing director Jon Phillips.

“I am delighted to welcome Bircroft to Gallagher, having known both Ian and Simon for many years,” Phillips said. “The business has a fantastic team that has in-depth understanding of the risks facing clients in the real estate sector. We already have one of the UK’s largest teams operating in real estate and the products and knowledge offered by Ian, Simon and the team at Bircroft are highly complementary to our current offering and becoming part of Gallagher will provide them with a springboard for expansion.”

Gallagher’s real estate practice team of 115 are located across four offices in London, Bournemouth, Chichester and Guildford.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
