Alps adds emergency cover for owner-operated SME properties

Alps has launched a commercial property emergency insurance policy aimed at owner-operated small and medium-sized enterprises trading from small premises.

The new policy has been designed for businesses that typically lack in-house resources to secure emergency contractors at short notice, leaving them exposed to disruption and financial loss following unexpected incidents.

Cover includes assistance and financial protection for a range of property emergencies, including boiler breakdown, burst pipes, roof damage, pest infestation and break-ins or vandalism. It includes call-out charges as well as labour, parts and materials.

The product is delivered in partnership with Strategic Insurance Services, and underwritten by Collinson Insurance.

Michelle O’Reilly, managing director at Alps, said: “This new emergency policy complements our existing products for both homeowners and landlords. It provides SME clients with the flexibility to tailor a package of cover that meets their individual needs. It delivers broad cover, flexible underwriting, and a desire to improve access to responsive, cost-effective insurance solutions. SMEs are, after all, the lifeblood of the economy."

Alps offers a range of add-on covers across legal expenses, motor and property lines. Capacity for its products is provided by a panel of insurers, with delegated authority arrangements supporting broker distribution.
