MGAA steps up FCA engagement as membership grows

The Managing General Agents’ Association has reported continued membership growth, stronger regulatory engagement and increased participation across its events and market insight programme as the MGA sector continues to evolve.

Its 2026 Annual Report, covering the year to 31 July 2026, shows MGA membership rising from 249 to 270. Practitioner membership increased from 68 to 76 while supplier membership grew from 152 to 162. The MGAA's Annual Conference attracted more than 1,300 delegates, while Broker Exchange events were held in Leeds and London.

Regulatory engagement strengthened during the year, with the Financial Conduct Authority participating directly in MGAA Compliance Insights sessions. Members engaged with Lisa Sturley, director of insurance at the FCA, and her team on regulatory priorities affecting the sector.

Michael Keating, CEO of the MGAA, said: "As the sector grows and evolves, the MGAA remains laser-focused on ensuring our members have the latest insights into our sector’s rapidly evolving landscape, increased opportunities for stakeholder networking, and the relevant UK and European representation they need to succeed.

“Our stronger engagement with the FCA is an important part of that, ensuring the MGA voice is heard and giving members greater opportunity to engage directly on the regulatory issues affecting their businesses.

“Looking ahead, our comprehensive membership research project will help shape our priorities and investment over the next 24 months, ensuring the MGAA continues to evolve in line with the needs and ambitions of our members.”
