IBM has acquired UK cybersecurity consultancy Logiq Consulting as it looks to strengthen its cybersecurity and digital transformation capabilities for organisations operating in highly regulated environments.

The acquisition brings Logiq’s expertise in the UK defence industry, critical national infrastructure and wider public sector into IBM Consulting. Logiq is an NCSC-assured cyber consultancy and its capabilities will complement those of SiXworks, an IBM company specialising in digital transformation for defence and public-sector organisations.

IBM said the deal will expand its ability to support clients with cybersecurity transformation, digital sovereignty and the secure adoption of AI. It will also enable organisations to maintain greater control over critical data and technology environments while addressing evolving security and regulatory requirements.

The acquisition comes as organisations in regulated sectors face increasing pressure to modernise technology while managing cyber and operational risks associated with increasingly complex digital environments.

For IBM, the addition of Logiq is intended to combine cybersecurity capabilities with its existing hybrid cloud, AI and digital transformation services, particularly for UK organisations where security, resilience and control over critical technology are key requirements.
