GILC strengthens Asia presence

Ming Law Asia has joined Global Insurance Law Connect, strengthening the network’s presence in Singapore. It is the network’s fifth member firm in Asia-Pacific and 28th worldwide.

Established in July 2025, the Singapore-based specialist dispute resolution firm advises international clients on commercial disputes, corporate law and insurance matters. It has particular expertise representing marine insurers in court proceedings and arbitration, including complex cross-border disputes.

Gillian Davidson, chair of Global Insurance Law Connect, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ming Law Asia to Global Insurance Law Connect. Its membership marks an important step in the continued development of our presence in Asia and reflects the growing importance of Singapore to clients with international insurance needs.

“As a network, our strength lies in connecting clients with trusted specialists who understand both their local markets and the wider international environment. Ming Law Asia brings that combination to Singapore, and we look forward to working closely with the team as the network continues to grow.”

Kelly Yap, managing director at Ming Law Asia, added: “Our membership of GILC will strengthen the support we can offer clients in Singapore, while giving them access to trusted specialist lawyers in other jurisdictions. For international clients requiring assistance in Singapore, our understanding of the local legal environment and experience in marine insurance disputes will help insurers navigate matters involving multiple markets. We look forward to building strong relationships with GILC’s member firms.”

Singapore’s position as a major international centre for shipping, insurance and dispute resolution makes it an important market for insurers and reinsurers operating across multiple jurisdictions.
