Marsh expands captive insurance into Bahrain

Marsh intends to expand its operations in Bahrain to include captive insurance, making it the first international broker to provide the service in the Kingdom.

The move will extend the broker’s captive capabilities across the Gulf, where it already operates in Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Marsh was previously the first international broker to receive captive insurance licences in Dubai in 2008 and Abu Dhabi in 2018.

Marcin Antosik, Marsh’s captive regional leader for the Middle East, will lead the Bahrain operation alongside the company’s existing regional captive services.

Noor Al-Haji, CEO of Marsh Bahrain & Kuwait, said: “Bahrain’s position as a well-regulated financial center, combined with the region’s continued economic diversification, makes this an important milestone for Marsh and for the wider captive insurance market in the Gulf.

“As businesses across the GCC pursue growth in an environment shaped by stronger non-oil investment, evolving regulation and increasingly complex risks – from supply chain disruption and cyber exposure to healthcare and employee benefit cost pressures – captive insurance is becoming a more strategic tool for financial resilience.”

Marsh said the expansion reflects growing demand for alternative risk-financing arrangements as businesses across the Gulf seek greater control and flexibility in managing increasingly complex exposures.
