Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty has appointed Henning Haagen as global head of aviation EMEA & Asia-Pacific. From January 2013, Haagen will assume the role from Florian Karner who has managed this aviation team for Allianz since 2006 and who is leaving AGCS to take up a new leadership role in general insurance broking in Monte Carlo.
Haagen, who will be based in London, has over 20 years of experience in the aviation insurance and reinsurance industry. He joined AGCS in 2008 as head of aviation reinsurance underwriting, moving in 2011 to be global head of reinsurance for AGCS where he managed outwards reinsurance across all lines of business. Before working at Allianz, he managed the aviation reinsurance portfolio of Brit Insurance and, prior to that, was an aviation underwriting manager at GE Insurance Solutions.
“I’m pleased to congratulate Henning on his appointment, and want to thank Florian personally for his tremendous service to AGCS during his tenure as Global Head,” stated Art Moossmann, CUO Global Specialty and member of the Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty AG Board of Management. “This managed succession approach will ensure continuity in service to clients, brokers and reinsurers, while also positioning AGCS for future growth in the global aviation market.”
Aviation is a major part of AGCS’s globally diversified portfolio, with teams covering general aviation, airlines, airports and manufacturers’ liability insurance in centres worldwide. In 2011, AGCS underwrote over €600 million in gross written premiums in these aviation sectors.
