Telefónica UK has become the first UK mobile operator to have achieved ISO 22301 across all of its operations from BSI.
ISO 22301, which has evolved from the internationally recognised British Standard BS 25999, endorses a plan of management practices and preventive solutions to protect an organisation against unexpected disruptions which may affect ability of the company to operate, such as a loss of power, severe weather conditions, epidemics or unstable political or economic situations.
“Achieving ISO22301 certification with the BSI is evidence of our commitment to our stakeholders, customers and our staff. The BSI review of our management system against ISO22301 enables us to be able to evidence our capability and preparedness for any disruption to our services or operations” commented David Clarke, Telefónica UK business continuity manager.
“Recent global research sponsored by BSI shows that companies with business continuity management systems not only mitigate risk to protect their brands but also reported improvements in business resilience and ability to meet customer requirements,” said Suzanne Fribbins, product manager for BSI’s Risk Portfolio. “We are delighted to be working with Telefónica UK to help improve the integrity and resilience of the business.”
