The Institute of Risk Management has announced a partnership with NHS Providers – the membership organisation for the NHS hospital, mental health, community and ambulance services that treat patients and service users in the NHS.
Risk for NHS Risk Practitioners is a new course aimed at practising or aspiring managers and leaders who are in decision-making roles or working as risk management practitioners in the NHS.
It will run from April to September 2023, over five sessions (both in-person and virtual) and is delivered by NHS Providers’ Board Development Programme in partnership with the IRM.
Sanjay Himatsingani, director of training and business development at the IRM said: “Increasing complexity and uncertainty in the global business environment means that more and more organisations value the importance of proactively identifying and managing risks. The NHS is no different and provides a vital public service facing multifaceted pressures and risks which are putting a strain on staff and services.
“Risk managers are in great demand, and a career in ERM is challenging, rewarding, and offers many opportunities for growth and advancement. ERM is relevant to organisations globally and in every sector.”
Jenny Reindorp, interim director of Programmes, NHS Providers added: “Effective risk management in the NHS is particularly vital given the unprecedented challenges our members face. We want to support trusts to improve their approach to risk and help raise the profile of risk management and risk professionals in the NHS.”
