Soil Association NED to join Flood Re board

Flood Re has announced the appointment of Dr Tony Ballance to its board of directors.
Balance is currently chief strategy and regulation officer at Cadent Gas, as well as chairman of The National Forest Company and a trustee at The Soil Association.

Previously, Ballance was director of strategy and regulation at Severn Trent, serving on its board for eight years, and prior to that was an economic consultant, and chief economist at Ofwat.

Tony Balance commented: “I am thrilled to be joining the Flood Re Board at such an important time. With the global climate crisis intensifying, effective flood risk management has never been more important. I am looking forward to using my experience, alongside the leadership team, to aid in the delivery of affordable and available home insurance for those in high flood risk areas.”

Bridget Rosewell, chair, Flood Re, added: “We are excited to welcome Tony to our Board. His extensive experience alongside his deep commitment to environmental stewardship, makes him an invaluable addition. We look forward to the significant contributions he will bring to Flood Re as we work towards creating a flood resilient future ahead of our exit from the market in 2039.

“I would also like to thank Judith Eden for her significant contribution to the Flood Re Board since its formation in 2016. Judith has been very influential in helping to ensure the delivery of affordable and available home insurance for those in high flood risk areas.”
