Allianz UK has committed to switching its corporate fleet to electric vehicles by the end of 2030, marking the latest step in its sustainability plans.
In 2025 the insurer began trialling a new process for fleet orders, with 160 EVs ordered so far this year. This takes the total number of new EVs in its UK fleet to 307 – about 28% of the total.
As part of the initiative, the procurement team ran a programme with an employee panel to test drive vehicles, benchmark performance and trial adapted models for drivers with different physical needs.
A new internal driver app also now enables company drivers and line managers to record business mileage and monitor emissions more effectively.
The initiative is part of Allianz UK’s sustainability strategy, which targets a 70% cut in greenhouse gas emissions per employee by 2030. The company says it has already achieved a 47% reduction from 2019 levels.
The move also supports the EV100 campaign, uniting firms committed to accelerating the switch to electric.
Bethany Thomas, head of sustainability, Allianz UK, commented: “This move is an important one for us and underscores our commitment to sustainability, not only as an insurer but also as an employer. To support our customers across the country we need our employees on the road in vehicles fit for purpose that also align with our net-zero strategy. By driving towards a greener future we are being clear in our aims and taking action to achieve them.”
