Markerstudy launches Green Legacy Project

Markerstudy has launched the Green Legacy Project, a long-term initiative designed to boost climate resilience through nature protection, and to embed sustainability into its operations. The programme forms part of the company’s wider ESG ambitions.

Over the next ten years, the insurer plans to restore 1,000,000m2 of degraded or at-risk land across the United Kingdom, supporting carbon sequestration and biodiversity recovery. Work has already begun, with 7,000 trees planted so far.

Lizzie Smith-Foreman, chief marketing, communications and sustainability officer at Markerstudy, said: “Sustainability remains at the heart of our strategic agenda and our ambitious goals include achieving net zero by 2045 and continuing to support our communities and society at large.

“Building climate resilience is a key priority for us, as our industry both relies on and is influenced by the natural environment. We have a responsibility to drive meaningful change and by championing nature protection and embedding it into our sustainability programme, we aim to create a beneficial and lasting impact for generations to come.”
