ICM upgrades Shadow-Planner software

Business continuity service provider, ICM Continuity Services, has launched two enhanced versions of its business continuity planning software, Shadow-Planner.

The upgraded, cloud-based software solution offers greater ease of use through a new function that automates, simplifies and speeds up the process of developing, maintaining and implementing business continuity plans.

Available in two editions ('Standard' and 'Enterprise'), the upgrade offers users the opportunity to access their business continuity plan from a smart phone. Other major enhancements to the enterprise version of the software include multi-lingual and multicurrency facilities, a redesigned user interface, support for new browsers platforms and types of imported data, greater choice of reporting formats and such new functionality as a business impact analysis (BIA), new audit trail and search facility, a drag and drop interface as well as improved content version control and security.

The updgrade also incorporates support for emergency broadcasting via SMS and email direct from Shadow-Planner, plus seamless integration to mainstream notification systems, including iModus, notifying users of key events or issues in the event of an incident.

Mike Osborne, managing director of ICM adds, “We think that the major enhancements that we’ve made to this software, which has already received major industry accolades, make it even simpler and quicker to develop a continuity plan across the entire organisation. The new mobile phone capability is an important new addition to keep pace with a business world that is becoming increasingly mobile, allowing access to the plans for both users and business continuity managers from anywhere at any time.”

Jonathan Moore, corporate risk manager of Marston’s, the independent brewing and pub retailing business, which has been using Shadow-Planner since 2007, deployed the product to garner a more structured approach to business continuity planning. “The new version's...improved navigation should make it easier for occasional users to find plans quickly and the increased functionality will help us towards our goal of BS 25999 accreditation,” he added.

Shadow-Planner, originally launched in 2002, was the first available web-based business continuity planning application.
